Deprenyl For Anxiety And Alzhiemer’s Disease Treatment

Deprenyl is a nootropic drug also known as smart drugs for their ability to improve brain function, increase concentration, enhance mood and sharpen memory. Deprenyl also known as selepryl or selegiline citrate is a neuro-protective medicine which is mostly used for the treatment of early-stage Parkinson's disease, depression, anxiety and senile dementia.

Though use of Deprenyl or selepryl is not stated for the treatment of alzhiemer’s disease, its benefit in alzheimer’s disease treatment is well documented in several studies. In alzheimer’s disease brain cells die at a much faster rate leading to progressive deterioration of a patient’s mental and physical health.

People suffering from alzheimer’s disease not only have a progressive and irreversible decline in memory but have also found to have impaired learning, judgment, and communicating abilities thereby leading to degradation of their physical health and social life as well.

Though today we are fully aware of the symptoms of this fatal brain illness, medical science has still not been able to find a concluding and successful treatment for this deadly disease. Human brain is made up of billions and trillions of neurons called as brain cells. It is these brain cells which are responsible for our learning, communicating and memorizing abilities.

However, when we reach the age of 45, these brain cells start to decline in number and in a person with alzhiemer’s disease these cells are destroyed at an extremely fast rate. Dopamine is an essential brain chemical responsible for the mood and programming of body movement. In alzheimer’s disease, this brain chemical gets adversely affected.

Monoamine oxidase (MAO) is an enzyme present in the brain which is responsible for destroying neurotransmitters after their use is over. However in older people and people with azhiemer’s disease, Mao is known to exist in greater number and is mainly responsible for the death of the brain cells even before their use.

Deprenyl with its Mao inhibiting function can greatly benefit Alzhiemer’s disease patients by preventing MAO from destroying the number of functional dopamine present in the brain. Apart from this Deprenyl with its nootropic or neuroprotective action helps combat free radical damage of brain cells in older people and those with Alzhiemer’s and parkinson’s disease, thereby improving brain function, improving concentration, improving memory and facilitating quicker mental actions.

Relationship of deprenyl and anxiety is also linked to deprenyl’s action of increasing the dopamine levels in the brain. Thus Deprenyl by preserving the dopamine levels in the brain and protecting the brain cells from free radical damage can prove to be an effective alzhiemer’s disease and anxiety treatment.

Deprenyl dosage and administration depends on your individual concern and treatment and thus it is best if you consult with your doctor for the proper deprenyl dosage and administration for your particular condition.

However, the recommended dosage is 10 mg of Deprenyl  liquid per day for alzhiemer’s disease treatment.
